 Nice Parks for Kids

A big thank you to Rena Singer for taking the time to help compile this list of fantastic parks for kids.

Talpiot Park-- A fabulous park with four types of slides, ping pong tables, sand pit, lots of swings and other equipment. Great for kids from toddler to 8/9.

Sunny in morning. Shady after 3pm.
DIRECTIONS: South on Hebron Road, turn left onto Albeck street, through traffic circle and light/robot. Turn right onto Ein Gedi and first left. You will see a small alley on the right hand side, just after you turn. The Alley is called Barzilay. The park is just down this alley. Lots of English and French speakers at this park.

Baka Park-- Smaller park with nice jungle gym (a cool tunnel slide) over nice clean sand pit, a couple of swings and basketball court. Very sunny park. Great for toddlers and younger kids.

DIRECTIONS: Travel south on Bethlehem Road, turn right onto Shimon and then right at the T intersection, left at next T intersection and then take your first right. The park will be on your right hand side. Lots of English speakers at this park.

Tombs of the Sanhendrin Park-- This is in a very religious neighbourhood. Wear appropriate clothes or you will get stares.

Two fabulous jungle gyms in pine covered park that is rarely crowded. Full shade all day. The jungle gyms are quite sophisticated, good for ages 3 and up.

DIRECTIONS: The park is located on the same spot as the Tombs of the Sanhendrin (ancient Israel's supreme court judges). You should be able to find this on most maps.

German Colony's Rose Garden-- A grassy field and small jungle gym. This park has nice little nooks for kids to explore, berries to pick etc.

DIRECTIONS: Three blocks up the hill from Emek Refaim. Easy to find on most maps.

Lots of English speakers.

Liberty Bell Park-- A sprawling park just next to where Emek Refaim meets King David Street. This park has a sculpture garden, large wooden jungle gym of sorts for kids to climb, large grassy area, small sand pit with small slide for little ones, and basketball courts. Also the train theatre for frequent kids productions.

Lots of Arabic, Hebrew and English speakers here.

Monster Slide-- The giant monster slide on the way to Ein Kerem just past the Kiryiat Hayovel area if you are coming by way of the mall.

San Simone Park (called Zarem Garden on some maps) -- Has a large grassy area and two playgrounds (one old and not so nice and the other small but newer with a long slide and climbing equipment). The park is partly shaded and has lots of English speakers.

Greek Colony Park on Elazar Hamodai--   Has a small jungle gym and some swings, and large rocks to climb on. Full sun.

DIRECTIONS: A few blocks off the end of Emek Refaim.

Katamon Park/ Lindsay Garden on some maps-- Funky basketball hoop for toddlers. Very small jungle gym for toddlers. Very small park.

Wohl Rose Garden (near the Knesset) -- Has "international gardens," which includes a Japanese Garden that has a very small waterfall and small stream that kids often walk through. The surrounding park has lots of nice picnic spots.

Rehavia Park (on Ramban near Arlosoroff)-- Full sun park with loads of English speakers. Nice jungle gym and swings.
